This shop is the second from the left on the ground floor of Boswell House, which was built in 1928. The poet W. B. Yeats lived in the old house at this address in the 1920s.

The first occupier of this new shop in 1928 was Thomas H. Long, who had a sweet shop here. He had been in the old shop in this position from 1919

From 1932 to 1956 the present No. 4 was numbered 4b.
