Mayors of Oxford in later medieval times
1348–1485
Mayors were now always elected annually and travelled at once to London to be admitted in the Exchequer. They began their term of office on Michaelmas Day (29 September). By this period they were always chosen from amongst the Aldermen, and were often still elected for a number of consecutive years.
