This wooden memorial with gold lettering was originally on the wall of St Peter-in-the-East Church in Queen's Lane. It was made by James Rogers & Sons of Oxford, and is shown when it was newly erected in the Oxford Journal Illustrated of 7 July 1920, p. 9.
That church was closed as a place of worship in 1965 and reopened as the library of St Edmund Hall in 1970, and its war memorial was moved to St Cross Church (now Balliol College Archives).
The twelve men whose names are inscribed on the memorial (plus the one man who died in the Second World War) are listed below.
