Bugler Charles COX (c.1874–1898)

Cox

Charles COX was born in c.1874, but it is hard to identify him positively. He is named as Charles R. Cox in the Soldiers of Oxfordshire database but as C. Cox in the medals list.

In 1897/8 Charles Cox served as a Bugler in the 2nd Battalion of the Oxfordshire Light Infantry (Service No. 3930) in Bengal.

He served both on the Punjab Frontier and at Tirah in 1897/8.

He died of disease at Landi Kotal at the western edge of the Khyber Pass at the age of 24 on 19 July 1898.

He was posthumously awarded the India Medal with two clasps.
